In Person Drum Lessons + Online Content

Dillon Yoder

I am very passionate about music. Whether it be listening, performing, teaching, recording, improvising, practicing or rehearsing. I can’t get enough. Most of all I enjoy playing music with people. Send me a message if you’d like to collaborate.

Services

Live Performance

Playing music with others for others has been my passion since my first band experience in high school. I love looking out into the crowd and seeing all the smiling faces and dancing feet and knowing that I am apart of creating that unique moment.

Teaching

I am just as passionate about sharing my love and enjoyment of music. I hope to inspire every student to express themselves through music. I am often inspired by my own students and love seeing them conquer a song, beat or musical exercise that they previously struggled with.

Recording

Creating music for the sake of the music. I have always been creative and, for the past 15 years, my primary outlet has been music. I love writing songs and making music on my own, and I love collaborating with others even more. I bring the perspective of a rounded musician and an avid listener to every song and drum part I have a hand in creating. Available for recording in the LA area or remote sessions.

Teaching

10+ Years

Teaching and playing music with students using drums, piano, guitar, bass and percussion since 2011.

Passion

I believe the best way to learn anything is through fun and enjoyment. My first goal with every student is to pass on my love for music. Practice is much easier when it is fun.

Custom Lessons

Everyone is different and so are my lessons. The goals are similar but how we play and practice depends on each students needs and preferences – educationally and musically.

Testimonials

If you’re looking for a patient, thoughtful, and engaging music teacher, Dillon is it. Our daughter has been taking drum lessons from Dillon for the last 5 years, starting when she was 7, and we are beyond pleased with the results. He’s a natural with children, and brings out the best them. He makes them feel comfortable, and most importantly makes the lessons fun! We highly recommend him, he truly is the best!!

― Tiffany H, Mother of Scout

Dillon Yoder has taught my son bass, piano and drums, since he was 11 years of age.  Dillon’s ability to work with children and adolescents is exceptional, and his teachings have held my son’s interest with consistency.  He teaches with an eye toward the student’s enjoyment yet instills the requisite sense of commitment and dedication it takes to become a musician.  My son’s confidence has grown substantially in the time he’s worked with Dillon, and he looks forward to continued study.

― Josh B, Father of Shane

I highly recommend Dillon as a music teacher!  My son has been taking drums lessons with Dillon for over 3 years.  Dillon is patient, engaging, and attentive as an instructor.  He teaches technical skills as well as all types of genres of music my son may be interested in.  I have recommended Dillon to several of my friends who are interested in drums, and they have nothing but positive things to say as well.

― Laura J, Mother of Michael

We have had the pleasure of having Dillon teach piano to our son for several years. Dillon is always super encouraging and his excitement for music and learning is contagious. Because of this, he makes lessons a “get to do” rather than a “have to do.” He combines structure with flexibility which has allowed our son to learn songs that he wants to learn, and even create original music with expert guidance. We were also able to continue lessons remotely when we were not able to come in person… which we’re also very thankful for!

― Heidi B, Mother of Lukas

Music Lessons

Drumming is my preferred instrument for myself, but I do not think of myself as a drum teacher. I am a music teacher. I learned multiple instruments because it was fun and it unintentionally made me a better drummer and team player in bands.

My students will get an opportunity to explore many instruments and styles of music. Plus they have the opportunity to discover what they like the most. Many of my students eventually become multi-instrumentalists.

About Me

I am so grateful I get the opportunity to do what I do and I don’t take it for granted. I appreciate every gig and every student. My personal goal is to spread the love and joy I have for life and music.
